  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings (about 1 cup per serving) 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Agua de Pepino is a refreshing and hydrating Mexican cucumber agua fresca made with fresh cucumber, lime, mint, and a touch of sugar. This chilled beverage is perfect for hot days and offers a crisp, revitalizing taste with natural ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Produce

  • 2 English Cucumbers
  • 3 Limes
  • 1/3 cup Fresh Mint

Other Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 5 cups Water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Thoroughly wash all the fruit and fresh mint. Halve the 3 limes. Cut each of the 2 English cucumbers in half lengthwise, then slice each half lengthwise to create manageable pieces for blending.
  2. Add to blender: Place the sliced cucumbers, halved limes (including skins), 1/3 cup fresh mint, and 1/3 cup granulated sugar into the blender. Pour 4 cups of water over the ingredients. If 4 cups does not fit, pour as much as possible.
  3. Blend until smooth: Blend all ingredients thoroughly until you achieve a smooth mixture with no large chunks remaining.
  4. Strain the mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher. Use a spoon or spatula to press on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible.
  5. Add remaining water: Add the remaining 1 cup of water to the pitcher to reach the full 5 cups total. If all water did not fit into the blender initially, make sure to add it now.
  6. Adjust sweetness and stir: Stir the agua fresca well and taste. Add more sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink, then stir again until fully incorporated.
  7. Serve chilled: Pour the agua de pepino over ice in glasses or refrigerate the pitcher until ready to serve. Enjoy this cool and refreshing beverage on a hot day.

Notes

  • Keeping the skins on cucumbers and limes adds extra flavor and nutrients.
  • Straining the blended mixture ensures a smooth, pulp-free drink.
  • Adjust sugar to taste for a sweeter or more tart beverage.
  • Serve immediately over ice or chilled in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Can be garnished with fresh mint leaves or lime slices for presentation.
