Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 cups Whole Milk
- 5 ounces Bittersweet Chocolate
Instructions
- Warm the milk: In a medium saucepan, gently warm the 2 cups of whole milk over low heat, ensuring it does not boil or scorch.
- Melt the chocolate: Remove the saucepan from heat, add the 5 ounces of bittersweet chocolate, and whisk continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and smoothly incorporated into the milk.
- Thicken the mixture: Return the saucepan to low heat and bring the mixture to a gentle low boil, stirring constantly for 2–3 minutes until it thickens slightly and attains a velvety consistency.
- Serve: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Pour the hot chocolate into cups and, if desired, sprinkle a few flecks of coarse salt on top to enhance the flavor.
Notes
- Use high-quality bittersweet chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
- Stir constantly when heating to prevent the chocolate from burning or sticking to the pan.
- Coarse salt added on top complements the rich chocolate by balancing sweetness and enhancing depth.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk, but the texture might be slightly different.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
