Grinch Oreo Truffles Recipe

  • Author: Luna
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 22 truffles 1x

Description

Delightfully festive Grinch Oreo Truffles made with red velvet Oreos, softened cream cheese, and vibrant green candy melts, decorated with red heart sprinkles for a perfect holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 1 package Red velvet Oreos (22 cookies)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

Coating and Decoration

  • 7 oz green candy melts
  • Red heart sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Truffle Base: Finely crush Red velvet Oreos in a food processor until no large chunks remain. Reserve 2 tablespoons of crumbs. In a large bowl, combine remaining crushed Oreos with softened cream cheese. Mix until a thick, uniform dough forms.
  2. Chill Mixture: Cover the truffle mixture and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  3. Roll Truffles: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of the chilled mixture and roll into smooth balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Pre-Chill Rolled Truffles: Chill the rolled truffles for another 15-20 minutes to ensure they hold their shape during dipping.
  5. Melt Candy Melts: Melt green candy melts using a microwave or double boiler method until silky smooth. If too thick, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil (not water) to thin.
  6. Dip and Decorate: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted green candy melts, allowing excess to drip off. Immediately place one red heart sprinkle on top while the coating is still wet. Return dipped truffles to the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Final Chill and Store: Place the baking sheets back into the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes, or until the coating is completely set. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to mix easily with crushed Oreos.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent truffles from sticking to the baking sheet.
  • If candy melts are too thick, gently thin with a small amount of vegetable oil, not water.
  • Store truffles refrigerated in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
  • For a festive touch, use red velvet Oreos to complement the Grinch theme.
